For years, I held firmly onto the belief that being self-reliant was my only path to safety and strength. My achievements gave me a false sense of security while my failures plagued me with shame. I was living a life disconnected from others, myself and God. Eventually, anxiety and despair started to overwhelm my home and the beautiful world I worked hard to create was unraveling. Desperate for help and truth, I started working with a counselor who told me that if I wanted my children to heal then I had to go first. As I look back in my first J2W book and see the blank pages during week one, I know how hard and painful it is to reflect on our stories. However, having the courage to make sense of the past has given me a deeper understanding of my own trauma, the emotions I was suppressing and how it was affecting the present. This journey has shown me the restoration and redemption God desires to bring into my life. It has given me a new foundation of hope and learning to trust the one who is making me new. Today, my family and I are learning to live from a place of wholeness, embrace healing even when it hurts and lean into the truth of who God is and who He is calling us to be.
